Get noticed from the ground up! This season the favourite shoe-bootie or “shootie” reached new levels in the windows of the fashion capitals, not only in terms of heel height but materials also outdid previous seasons. There was multi-coloured striped satin at Guiseppe Zanotti and clusters of studs in gold or silver tones covered his bootie and sling backs. Crystal sparkle decorated pumps at Christian Louboutin and MiuMiu. Paillettes were another favourite all-over look, and placed patterns and designs upped the ante at Barbara Bui and at Christian Louboutin as well. Lace continued in many new versions. Leopard and cheetah spotted shoes and bags are taking up prime retail space again in NY and Las Vegas this season. Haute designers and bridge collections focused on stencilled hair calf whereas outright sport footwear and more accessibly priced handbags featured printed non-leathers and fabrics. Shapes and silhouettes encompassed retro/avant garde hard clutches, structured top handles and soft hobos in handbags.
