Touch Me, Feel Me October 10
Colour & Trends
The news for next fall at the recent textile fairs in Milan and Paris was all about texture and surface interest, from tactile tweeds, quilted fabrics, dimensional knits and various other methods of adding another layer of surface interest. Yet the discerning fashion shopper could spot all these trends already this current season at retail in New York, London, Paris or Milan. Metallic threads on a suede shift created an intricate geometric pattern at Ralph Lauren. Escada went into two directions, one with a shiny geometric tech pattern, the other looking hand-crafted with bulky threads re-embroidered on the bodice of a dress and the sleeves. Quilting and appliques were abundant. Tiers of organza and gunmetal silk are bound to be an important spring trend as well. And for the cold weather season there were plenty of curly lamb looks and a fresh looking puffy jacket at Emporio Armani.
