Leopard and cheetah spotted shoes and bags are taking up prime retail space again in NY and Las Vegas this season. Haute designers and bridge collections focused on stencilled hair calf whereas outright sport footwear and more accessibly priced handbags featured printed non-leathers and fabrics. Shapes and silhouettes encompassed retro/avant garde hard clutches, structured top handles and soft hobos in handbags. Wine:It is a Good Year September 13

Whether Beaujolais, Merlot or Pinot Noir, it is a season for good vintages! Whereas the colour “red” has been a classic for the last few years, this fall it is being pushed aside somewhat by new shades in the wine family as witnessed on a recent shopping spree to NY and Las Vegas. Shoes and accessories embrace these darker reds in new textures and finishes, from coloured enamel in jewelry, smooth patent leather, patent croco, metal washed leathers and suede in boots, shoes and bags. Davy Crockett’s fringe suede jacket has been a constant inspiration for many romanticized frontier fashions including boots, handbags, belts and jewelry. Pocahontas’ feathers have been very successful as earrings, headbands and more. All over St. Tropez, floral prints made impact. There were large-scale placed flowers as well as all-over small Liberty-types. True botanicals seemed to grow from the seams! Bright poppies, daisies, and exotic flowers strategically positioned to enhance the shape of the dress. Variations on this look included large paisleys and other Indian inspired patterns.

St. Tropez Summer: The Softer Side August 3

Not everyone in St. Tropez was into brights. A light and airy colour palette had also a strong presence. Soft solid sorbet tones and delicate prints and patterns in ethereal, light, sometimes sheer fabrics seemed ideal in the summertime heat. Pretty tops and dresses in these soft tones conveyed feminine bohemian flair.
